I completed your tethering instructions for the i917 and checked device manager to make sure the drivers are there. When I click connect in the dial-up window I get “error 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection is closed” I sure could use some help. AT&T and Samsung could not or would not help. Thanks

I have never had AT&T charge me for tethering, but AT&T have said they will start throttling heavy users. Which means if you tether, be prepared for 56k dial-up speeds…

Yes the drivers are for Win7 64bit. I fixed the download link so you can download them now. Let me know if you have any other issues.

The download link doesn’t seem to work (anymore? I checked 7/18/2011). Did you by chance have the 64 bit drivers for Win7 for this?

For the other 2 devices in device manager that also need to use the same drivers as the device itself, Bluetooth Peripheral and Wimedia Device – if, like me, you don’t have the drivers downloaded then you are stuck.

Also, I too am getting the 628 error and have tried various things like turning off encryption on the connection, turning on logging but no lcu. Suggestions are appreciated

If you cannot get Windows Update to download you a drive, from device manager, dbl-click the i917 and select download driver, let windows search online for it and you are good to go.

Thanks for your reply. I’m not referring to any AT&T Connection Managers, rather the new network connection in network/sharing center. Based on the need to dial a number, I assume the new connection is a dial up and per the instructions, the final step is ‘connect’. That’s when I get the error. Am I interpreting this instruction wrong?:
•Create new connection in Network and Sharing Center
•Number to dial: *99***1#, User: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM Password: CINGULAR1, and connect.
